Dad's trip: Part 1
Know i'm a little late posting dad's trip, but here it is. Last Friday Feb 23, dad finally got to experience the xmas present i had gotten for him. For xmas i had bought dad tickets to the Accenture World Golf Champions Match Play game at the Gallery golf course. This tournament consisted of the top 64 players in the world. Just to name a few of the biggest names that were there Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Charles Howell III, etc and of course my personal favorite Tiger Woods himself. We didn't get to see all the big name players because some of them had already been elimated from the tournament. That Friday, dad i got to the golf course an hour before it the game started, so we could just walk around and get a good seat. The game was a very exclusive golf course in Marana, AZ. It's a small city just outside of Tucson city limits. We parked at the bottom the bottom of the hill of where the course was at. The Gallery had shuttle buses taking people up the course, to cut down excess traffic. The course was very well organized when it came to transportation. We weren't allowed to bring in any cell phones, pda's, or cameras. But of course we saw people w/cell phones. The main negative thing about the game is that it was pretty cold that day. It was bout mid 50's w/a cold wind. Dad ended up wearing shorts, and ended up getting pretty cold towards the end. I had worn pants and a jacket, but you know me i still was cold. The sun came out a max of 10xs the whole day. At one point, when the sun did come out for a sec people cheered loudly. Once we arrived, we just walked around, then got a good seat at the first tee box seats. The food there was ok, nothing amazing. Just hotdogs, chips, pop, hamburgers, coffee, and of course beer. American sports just can't be sports w/out any alcohol there. Before the game started, i was able to see some of the golfers practice. Later there was loud cheer, and who was it of course, but Tiger Woods. It was so exciting i got to see him practice putt, w/ me standing just a feet away from him. I was almost tempted to yell, but didn't want to known as one of those crazed fans, so don't worry i didn't embarress the family name by not yelling. Finally the game started, we all had to sit in silence till the golfers were done hitting. It was hard to be silent, i'm used to going to games you can yell at. At one point the guy next to us had snuck in a phone, and worst thing it starting ringing right when the golfer was about to hit. And of course it was one of those loud and annoying rings. You think he would have at least put the phone on silent. We were surprised he didn't get kicked out. In golf you usually have to either follow a favorite player around the whole course, which is hard to due especially if there's a big crowd following him, like with Tiger Woods. So dad and just went to all the major holes and waited for the players to all pass through. It worked pretty good. We were always able to see really well. Dad and got to see some very exciting and clenching moments for the golfers. Also, there we ran into a photographer who had flown in to take pictures of Tiger Woods. Come to find out we were able to buy one of the photos he had taken of Woods. Technically he wasn't supposed to, because he had told us to hide them, but you can't blame the guy for wanting to make a little profit. So i have that photo framed in my apt. Since i wan't able to take photos at the tournament, i was able to take pictures of the course way back in December. So those are the photos i put on the site. The course was very pretty w/all the cacti everywhere and the moutains. This tournament is coming back to Tucson next year, and if i'm still living here, dad and plan on going back. So all in this one of the funniest things dad and i have gotten to do together. Plus dad had i our few minutes of fame, later that night the Golf channel and ESPN Sportscenter showed the highlights from the game the day we went. Because we were sitting close enough at the first tee box, you can see us in the crowd really good right when Tiger Woods was teeing off. And i of course had to record it too!!

1 Comments:
Next time I see you, I'd like to see that clip of you 2 on TV.
And, as I told you before, Tiger's married now, so it's time to find someone else.
I miss you!
Love you, Mom
